Back-To-School: How You Can Help

07/05/2010

Williams supports CCA. We hope you will, too.

We know. We know. Officially, summer just started. But now is the time when local non-profits are putting programs in place to make back-to-school necessities available for families in need.

At Williams, we’re partnering with Christian Community Action (CCA).

We recently presented CCA with a $10,000 grant to help kick-off their back-to-school fundraising.

For more than 35 years, CCA has been feeding, sheltering, educating and training families in need within 42 communities throughout Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant and Wise counties.

Last year, CCA provided 1,535 qualifying students with two new outfits, a pair of shoes, a backpack and grade-specific school supplies. That number represented a 15 increase over 2008. This year’s number may be higher.

We hope you’ll visit CCA online at www.ccahelps.org to learn how you can help, too. The non-profit is working to raise more than $80,000 for its back-to-school program.

Our grant represents our third gift to CCA. Previously, we presented $3,000 in 2008 and $3,500 in 2009 to CCA in general support. This year we raised our contribution to make a bigger impact and to encourage others to do the same.

To learn more about Williams’ philanthropy, please visit our Grants Page. We primarily support education, youth activities, health and human services, and emergency response agencies.
