Fracturing
Hydraulic fracturing uses a combination of water, sand and additives under high pressure to “fracture” or create openings in rocks where natural gas is trapped deep in the earth. This liquid is often referred to as “frac fluid.”
The Environmental Defense Fund has gone on the record saying that it believes the technique can be done safely “if wells are constructed right and operated right.” We invite you to see the remarks on video and via transcript.
You can see detailed information about our fracturing activities at specific wells in the Barnett Shale at www.fracfocus.org. We were among the first companies to voluntarily disclose information on that database.
